Making the Leap from Eclipse SE to OPEN DISCOVERY

By Brittany Thaler, ACP eDiscovery

In the ever-evolving field of eDiscovery and the massive influx of content coming through our litigation and investigation doors, we need to be in the know and prepared to take whatever changes come along in the process. That includes making changes to the software and workflows we use on a continuous basis.

I lost your attention there, didn’t I? A big wall went up and said “No. No. No. What I do works, and I am sticking with it!”

Does it really work to its utmost potential though?

In the past couple years, have you ever thought to yourself, “Man, I could really get through this review faster if I didn’t have to tag each chain per custodian,” or “Is this the same email chain, or is it different?”

Those “ummms” and frustrations waste time.

A new way forward with Enterprise

These types of questions were necessary in Eclipse SE, where threading and near-duplicates aren’t trackable. However, in OPEN DISCOVERY, this task could be accomplished in mere minutes. Isn’t that better than hours of uncertainty?

If I can look at a series of threads all at once in Enterprise, see the differences and tag accordingly, I can reduce the time it takes me to get the production out the door. I may even have found key facts that would have been lost in the redundancy. That’s a win in my book.

Let’s take a gander into our new normal of remote team working. Years ago, the idea of working remotely as a paralegal was sort of taboo. Attorneys wanted you in the office, with a big bulky machine.

Today, however, more and more paralegals (and review attorneys) are working from home, whether it’s in the same city or a different state entirely. With OPEN DISCOVERY, remote workers can, with little to no effort, utilize the Self-Service portal to upload and ingest data received.

Unlike having to replicate and sync in Eclipse SE, workers have the ability to access Review in the cloud, avoiding a bulky and tedious synching process. To boot, OPEN DISCOVERY has Active Learning, Email Threading, and Keyword Management, among many other analytic tools, which can further simplify your review process.

Discovery ][ Enterprise has numerous benefits to offer, but in my opinion, this functionality alone makes it worth the leap into the cloud. You’ll still enjoy the traditional features you’re used to such as templates, customized input and productions, and tagging and coding. But with OPEN DISCOVERY you will have so many more tools at your disposal just waiting to assist you!

We’re excited to help you on your journey with these new tools at your fingertips, which will help make you become a truly remarkable eDiscovery practitioner!

Happy Leaping!
