Parsons Behle & Latimer started working with IPRO in 2015, mainly for Early Case Assessments using our tool Allegro, and upgraded to Live EDA in 2020.

Sonja Peterson, project support manager in eDiscovery at Parsons, says, “Once we found IPRO’s all-in enterprise solution we realized we could have all products in-house and do it on our own from start to finish, it was a game changer.”

Challenges before using IPRO Solutions

Parsons faced several challenges with eDiscovery before trying Live EDA, IPRO’s in-place search. Before IPRO solutions, the firm was using two different platforms that suffered from several different technical bugs and made paralegal work slow and inefficient. Moreover, the firm was spending a significant amount of time requesting additional files and emails from clients, which delayed the eDiscovery process.

Peterson says, “The clients we work with have all the say whether they give their data or not. Having Live EDA is exactly what we needed to go directly to the source. IPRO is doing the indexing for us. We can now search without the back-and-forth with the client.”

How Parsons uses Live EDA

With Live EDA, we can perform more live data searches in real time once we dig deeper into each case and discover we need more information. This saves our clients a significant amount of money.

Live EDA from IPRO provide Parsons with a solution to eDiscovery challenges. The products enable Parsons’ employees to conduct early data assessments on live data, filter and query all data sources from one interface without having to collect all the data before looking into the case and use AI-based classification to identify PII, PCI and PHI. IPRO’s platform enabled the firm to handle all eDiscovery processes in-house and significantly reduce time and money spent on behalf of the client collecting necessary data.

Peterson says, “We have had several government cases. Those entities always return after they have received their first set of documents with additional data to add to the discovery process. With Live EDA, we can run more searches live and get what you need in an instant.”

The results

IPRO has constantly been investing and working on every component to add to their product; that’s what I’ve liked about it.

Live EDA has enabled Parsons to reduce review turnaround times and expenses by more than 80%. For example, one case involved a collection of 20 PST files from 15 different people averaging more than 5gb+ each – some as large as 12-15gb. Live EDA allowed the firm to cull the large amounts of data down to a very manageable size.

Peterson says, “We’ve also used Live EDA with multiple PSTs. We have pulled 20 PSTs provided by the client into the Live EDA platform rather than dumping all that data into our database. We were able to reduce data even farther from more than 500,000 documents to approximately 20,000 – a 96% reduction – which made the review process much faster.”

Live EDA from IPRO has provided Parsons with an efficient and effective solution to its eDiscovery challenges, which is invaluable for the firm. The IPRO Success Team has assisted Parsons throughout the deployment and setup for their clients, which is especially valuable for clients who don’t employ a person with an IT background. IPRO’s team is available over the telephone to walk clients through the entire process, with documentation and explanations.
